The paper deals with the issue of the national assessment of knowledge and skills of primary school pupils with special educational needs in the V4 countries with emphasis on the Slovak Republic. It presents interesting findings from national testing of these pupils. The authors of the paper tried to look into the national testing of knowledge and skills of pupils with special educational needs, namely Testing 9, in countries such as Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic and last but not least Slovakia. In the context of these countries, they provide a systematic overview of the basic information on the national assessment in primary schools in these countries until 2024. In terms of the educational policies of the Slovak Republic, they show an increase in the number of these pupils over the last 7 school years, from which an upward trend in the number of pupils with special educational needs being tested is evident.
